Golden is in the province of British Columbia and is another great home base for any Rocky Mountain adventure. Originally a town known for logging and railway, Golden is now better known for its incredible number of outdoor activities to choose from. It’s not hard to believe when you learn that National and Provincial Parks surround it. In fact, there are six Canadian National Parks nearby, including Yoho, Glacier, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke, Jasper and Banff.

Regardless of the time of year you are visiting, Golden has a large selection of accommodations and activities to choose from. The Powder Highway

Golden has one of the eight ski resorts located along the Powder Highway in southern British Columbia. For those who ski or board know this legendary loop offers an abundance skiable terrain for riders of all skill levels and some of the deepest powder that Canada has to offer. The resorts found in this circuit are surrounded by pure mountain ski towns, full of charming character and local flare.

Golden’s pedestrian bridge, or the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge, is Canada’s longest freestanding covered timber frame bridge. It was completed in 2001 and is 46 metres long. The superstructure weighs approximately 210,000 lbs and was constructed of 72,000 bd.ft of Douglas-fir timbers.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

Did You Know?

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has a resident Grizzly Bear – Boo! Boo was orphaned at five months old, and thus, the Kicking Horse Grizzly Bear Refuge was born. The Refuge was explicitly built to provide a safe habitat for Boo to live and hibernate. Boo is almost 20 years old now and guests visiting have the opportunity to observe him hunt, play, and forage in his 20-acre home!
