Suggested Itinerary

  • Day 1: Travel To Banff

From Calgary, head west to the idyllic parkland town of Banff. You know you’re getting closer when you get engulphed in the stunning mountain scenery. Check into your hotel and take the rest of the day to explore the many unique shops, eateries and attractions around town. Overnight at the Banff Inn, your mountain home for the next couple nights!
If you’re hungry and looking to grab a hearty meal, then we recommend you visit the Saltlik Banff. This classic steakhouse has certified Angus Beef PRIME Steak that is graded the top 2% of all steaks in North America and has a menu that goes beyond that. From succulent seafood to rustic homemade pasta and season-inspired desserts, their team do it all, and they do it all well. Complete your experience with their sommelier-curated wine list and handcrafted cocktails.

Upgrade your accommodations to include suites for additional amenities.
  • Day 2: Giddy-up

Good Morning! It’s your first day in the Canadian Rockies and today is going to be awesome. Be sure to put on comfortable clothes and make your way to the nearby stables for your introduction into horseback riding. Once you’ve received your instructions, you’ll meet your horse and take a ride along the Bow River while watching for wildlife and enjoying the spectacular scenery. About half way through your trip, you’ll be challenged to western activities like lassoing and horse-shoes. When you have worked up an appetite, you’ll sit down for some tasty comfort food including steak cooked to order, baked potatoes, cowboy baked beans and Caesar salad.
If you’re looking for a short hike, embark on a 2.8 km hike to Johnston Canyon’s Upper Falls. Here you’ll venture through a deep mountain canyon with many beautiful waterfalls along the way. If you’re up for it, hike beyond the upper falls for another 3.1 km to the Ink Pots – seven cold mineral springs bubbling to the surface in the open meadows that can be slightly different colours depending on the time of year.

    (additional charge)

To get a birds eye view of Banff National Park, take the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain. Experience a world of beauty with epic sights of six stunning mountain ranges and the sweep of the Bow Valley.
  • Day 3: Wide open views

Rise and shine! Eat a good meal and charge your camera/ phone battery because you’ll need it for your ride today. When you return to the stables, your horse will guide you along the tranquil Bow River – an area home to wildlife in amongst the thick marshes and grassy meadows, with unspoiled views of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. From here you will travel along the Sundance Canyon Trail to thick forest. Keep an eye out for beaver, elk, coyotes and other majestic wildlife. You then pop up out of the forest and venture up Sulphur Mountain, where sweeping views of the Bow Valley await.
If you have a sweet tooth, we recommend going to The Fudgery in Banff. They specialize in hand-made chocolates and treats, made daily on-site. Try the bears paws, they’re delicious!

    (additional charge)

Take a dip in the Banff Upper Hot Springs. Submerge yourself in the 37 and 40ºC mineral-rich water for a soothing soak. Relaxing in the outdoor pool among the jagged peaks of Rundle and Cascade Mountains is a magical experience.

  • Day 4: Pack'er Up

Wake up, enjoy breakfast, check out of your hotel and make your way to the stables for your last day of riding. Once you and your horse have been reacquainted, you’ll ride two thirds up one of Banff’s most iconic mountains, visit a famous landmark hotel, spot elk or coyotes in the brush and then cross the tumbling Spray River. You’ll ride along the base of Mount Rundle – where you’ll enjoy stunning views across the valley and continue on to the roaring Bow Falls to cross the river again before heading back. Once you have completed this activity, refuel with a coffee, tea or meal from town before you hit the road to head home.
Wherever you travel, stop along the way to enjoy the view.

    (additional charge)

If you have time, you can also rent a mountain bike for trail riding, go golfing, canoeing, kayaking, visit a Nordic Spa or participate in a food tour. Optional: If you leaving out of Calgary you can stop by Calgary Olympic Park to see what’s happening there. If you have time, you can enjoy 17th Ave and the many interesting restaurants, pubs and local shopping sites. Option to include accommodations in Calgary.
