  • Day 1: Travel To Québec City

Welcome to Québec! The capital city is full of history, friendly vibes, and has an abundance of attractions and boutiques to make your time memorable in Eastern Canada. Québec City has a delicate touch that blends old town-chic with a modern metropolis. Upon arrival at the landmark luxury hotel, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, you will feel an elegant touch of historic Europe. Check into your Gold City View Room and then wander around the building to enjoy breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and the architecture of the Old fortified City. When you are ready, make your way to one of the nearby monuments, take a ride on the funicular, or indulge in a dessert at a local café. The evening is yours to enjoy.
Winters in Canada can be cold, but that depends on where you are from and which day of the week you visit. Due to fluctuating temperatures, your best bet is to dress with a base, mid and outer layer, scarf, tuque, good winter gloves and boots. If you arrive and you’re not fully prepared, know that you can buy or rent gear to help you stay warm during your trip.

    (additional charge)

Upgrade your accommodations to a Deluxe room to enjoy river views, or a junior suite to receive more space with a living room, separate bedroom, a couch, and more.
  • Day 2: View Old Québec

Time to get up and begin your exciting day in this charming city. Your a la carte breakfast is served as early as 7am on the Dufferin Terrace, so grab some goodies and fuel your tank before your walking tour later this morning. At 10:30am, the English-speaking guide will meet you for your private walking tour of Old Québec City and share its colourful past beginning in 1608 and continuing into the present day. You will get a real understanding of the lives of the people that have inhabited the land through out the centuries. Once your two-hour experience ends, enjoy downtime to revisit the places that you saw on your walking tour or rest. Into the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit more than a century-old slide and take a ride on one of the most unique attractions in Quebec City. You will ascend the structure, grab a seat on a vintage toboggan, and slide down the icy chute with speeds up to 70 km per hour. If you thought the exhilarating encounter was over too quickly, do not worry, you have two more chances to experience the thrill again. Hold on tight!
In Québec, they speak both English and French, though French dominates in some parts. The French spoken in Quebec City is often referred to as Québecois French, which is slightly different from the language spoken in France. So learn a few words to help navigate the city, or even lunch.

    (additional charge)

If you are looking to add more physical activity to your day, then try cycling on snow. Experience fat biking in the company of a bike instructor who will show you the basics and accompany you on your journey. You will explore nearby trails and/or downtown streets (depending on conditions) and see various parts of the city, while getting exercise.
  • Day 3: Explore and Unwind

Good morning! Grab an early breakfast and gear up in your layers for a day outdoors. Just before 9am, you will meet your shuttle at a neighbouring hotel to be whisked away to the majestic, winter wonderland found in Jacques-Cartier National Park. You will receive training on the equipment before venturing out into the forest, through varying terrain. Your guide will share interesting facts and share stories about the area, and there will be many opportunities for photos. Keep an eye out for wildlife! The break will include lunch and a warm beverage in a heated tent. Upon returning to the hotel in the mid afternoon, enjoy some downtime or a meal before you make your way to the Strom Spa Nordique for a soothing Swedish massage. Here you will unravel from your day with a 60-minutes massage, which will relax your tense muscles, then you will receive access to thermotherapy to rejuvenate your body. Alternate between outdoor hot tubs, temperate and ice baths, Finnish saunas, essential oil steam baths, thermal and Nordic waterfalls, and several indoor and outdoor relaxation areas with fireplaces. Once the stress has melted away, and your body and mind have revived, return to the hotel to rest.
Near the hotel you will find 1640 Bistro. It is an upscale eatery that offers New Canadian cuisine that will excite your tastebuds with gourmet pizza’s, grilled meats, and delicious sweets. Beautifully paired with their red wines.

    (additional charge)

The Citadelle of Quebec is an active military installation and the secondary official residence of both the Canadian monarch and the governor general of Canada. Take a guided tour through the fortress, an active garrison occupied by the Royal 22e Régiment, and plunge into the heart of this national historic site while admiring its architecture and the spectacular view of Quebec City and the St. Lawrence River.
  • Day 4: Indigenous Stories and a Fortress of Solitude

Enjoy a gentle start to the day and grab a warm and hearty breakfast. You’ll have to check out of the Fairmont and make your way north for your next adventure. On your way towards the Village Vacances Valcartier, you will stop off at the Huron-Wendat Museum to marvel at the introduction to the history, culture, and arts of the Huron-Wendats and other Canadian First Nations. Your guided tour will take you on a captivating journey into the exhibition that features objects grouped under 3 cultural themes: knowledge, memory, and territory. Each of these learning sites introduces you to a different aspect of Aboriginal culture and history. Following the tour, you will participate in the Myths and Legends activity and sit by the fire, hear First Nations tales and sample Labrador tea or hot chocolate.

Anytime after 4pm, check into the Hôtel Valcartier where they will instruct you on your stay in the Hôtel de Glace (ice hotel) and their facilities. When you have settled in, head to the skate rental counter onsite to pick up your blades to glide on the 1 km long skateway; surrounded by the magical charm of their lighted skating path with musical ambiance.

Once you’ve had your fill, it’s time to investigate the Hôtel de Glace. With fascinating art, vibrant colours, and winter splendour greeting you as soon as you enter this one of a kind spectacle. The hotel has many rooms, so take time to appreciate the vaulted ceilings, decorations, sculptures, themed rooms, and the icy artisanship that makes this place special. To top off your evening, be sure to visit the ice bar and snag with a delicious cocktail served in a glass made of ice.
Before leaving Wendake, visit La Traite Restaurant for mouth-watering dishes inspired by First Nations. Taste house-smoked wild game meats, sauces made from native berries as well as various herbs from the boreal forest. Meals are unique, delicious, and beautiful. We can’t stop thinking about the Ravioli a la Courge!

    (additional charge)

If you are feeling adventurous, then add on Snow Rafting or Inner Tube Slides. Your inflated vessel will twist, turn, and rip down the multiple snowy slopes at Valcartier. Day or night, you can experience more of the outdoors at this winter playground.
  • Day 5: Depart

It was bound to happen, it’s time to wrap up your Québec City trip. Pack up your belongings, make your way into the Hotel Valcartier for breakfast and then check out. Don’t forget to search your room for any belongings left; its a long way to return to pick up any forgotten items! If you haven’t done so already, be sure to check in for your flight and arrange for transportation to the airport. The airport is about 45 minutes away in the winter, so plan to charge your electronics and budget your time accordingly.
You never know when and where you will be delayed. Leave earlier than anticipated and be sure to bring a good book to keep you preoccupied.

    (additional charge)

Depending on your flight’s departure, you could include a cooking class, half day cross country skiing, or fat biking rental. Or extend your Québec tour to explore the province and take a road trip to visit Montreal or hop over into Ontario to explore the countries capital, Ottawa.
