  • Day 1: Travel To Fernie, BC

    There are various ways to get to Fernie, but if you are coming from Calgary then travel south along highway 3 past the town of Frank, the location of the colossal Frank Slide in 1932. You’ll cruise through the wild and stunning Crowsnest Pass, a continental divide on the Alberta / BC border. The views along this part of the trip are naturally magnificent. Plan for a coffee stop and photos here before you make your way towards Fernie. When you arrive at your hotel, nestle in, unpack and explore the area. Be sure to get your gear ready this evening as you’ll want to be up early to make first chairs tomorrow. Note: The time zone in Fernie, B.C. falls under Mountain Standard Time, which is the same as in Alberta.
    Visit the Guide Hut for any last minute gear that you need or to replace those items that you may have forgotten.

  • Day 2: Ride Fernie

    Today is the day to ride Fernie Alpine Resort’s Bike Park! Grab breakfast, load the stuff you’ll need and hit the road early. The trip from the Park Place Lodge to the parking lot at Fernie is about one hot cup of coffee. You have 3,550 vertical feet and over 37 runs to play in when you arrive. Grab a mountain map, and jump on a lift. Start out with a confidence-building ride on Honey Bee before tearing through Top Gun’s famous berms and moving on to the Timber Chair to tackle the challenges of Rumplestiltskin and Megasaurus. In the late afternoon, a tasty beverage in one of mountainside lounges will seem the perfect end to the day on the slopes. Once back at the hotel, clean yourself up and check out the town of Fernie. There are several great shops, restaurants and bars to visit.
    After you day on mountain, clean up and head out to The Brickhouse. This place has amazing Mediterranean-inspired pub meals, and on Thursdays check out their Jam nights.

    Include rentals or lessons with your package. The Performance Rental Centre offers high quality bike rentals and protective gear for adults and kids. The Mountain Bike School offers lessons for first time, specialty camps, private lessons, and kids programs.
  • Day 3: Ride Fernie and head to Golden

    Pack up all of your belongings and check out of your hotel. Ensure all of your biking gear is accessible for your last day in Fernie, BC. You know the drill today, head back to the epic spots from yesterday and set some tracks. Try as you might, you won’t get to do everything in just two days, but you’ll certainly have made an honest effort and had some great adventures. You may as well go hard on the slopes your evening plans are driving and sharing lots of great stories on the way to Golden. It’s a three hour drive, so when you arrive at your hotel, it’s time to get some rest.
    Once you’ve wrapped for the day, consider grabbing a snack for the road from one of the local outlets you saw last night. If you’ve got time, stop at Nevados Tapas & Tequila to sample various plates or share the La Familia Tacos with your group as you talk about your time in Fernie.

  • Day 4: Ride the Horse

    Today is the day to conquer Kicking Horse Mountain Resort’s epic bike trails! Start your morning with a hearty breakfast, pack your gear, and drive up to the resort. Upon arrival, grab a trail map and hop on the Golden Eagle Express Gondola. Warm up with a ride on the gentle yet thrilling Pioneer trail, perfect for building confidence. Next, take on the flowy sections of Rock ‘N Roll, letting the berms and jumps fuel your excitement. As you grow more comfortable, head to the top and challenge yourself with the technical twists and turns of Psycho Path. The resort’s bike park features offer a chance to test your skills on jumps, drops, and wall rides. After an exhilarating day on the trails, unwind with a refreshing drink at one of the mountainside lounges, soaking in the breathtaking views of the Rockies.
    Grab a snack, beverage or full meal at the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant on top of the mountain. Founds at 7,700 ft. the stunning views and the delicious dishes are simply outstanding!

  • Day 5: Round two!

    It’s time for another adrenaline-packed adventure! Fuel up with a nutritious breakfast, then gather your gear and make your way back to the mountain. Begin your day with a smooth run down the lower mountain trails accessed by the Catamount Chairlift. Try the exhilarating twists and turns of “It’s a Ten,” perfect for warming up those muscles. Once you’re feeling confident, jump on the gondola and head to the summit for the day’s main event. If you’re looking for a heart-pounding challenge, take on the technical descents of “Showdown,” where sharp turns and steep drops will test your skills. Capture some photos to remember this unforgettable experience.
    Hungry after your long day? Stop off at Bear & Bone Burger Co to get in a solid meal. They specialize in homemade, locally sourced hamburgers as well as other homestyle classics. Great place for burgers, steaks, fish ‘n’ chips, sandwiches and more.

    Thinking about some of the places you might of missed on mountain? Add a Via Ferrata experience to get you to places your bike couldn’t reach.   • Day 6: Roll out

    What an experience! It’s time to pack up all of your belongings and check out of your hotel. Ensure all of your bike and gear prior to departure. You can spend your time riding the trails around town or exploring the trails by foot. Depending on where you are going from here, discuss your departure time with your crew as it could be a long drive home.
    If you have less than a half of a tank of gas, its best to fill up in Golden before you hit the road home.

    If it’s been a long few days, consider add a night or two in the Banff National Park to relax in the hot spring, view the beautiful mountain range and indulge in the local culinary scene.
