Suggested Itinerary

  • Day 1: Travel To Kananaskis

From Calgary, head west to Highway 40, and turn south towards Kananaskis. You know you’re getting closer when you get engulphed in the stunning mountain scenery. Depending on when you arrive, you can go straight to the Nordic spa and stay as long as you need to fully enjoy the benefits of the outdoor pools, saunas, steam rooms and exfoliation cabin. When you’ve had enough, check into your hotel and spend your evening relaxing amongst the mountain vistas.
To really immerse yourself in the experience, follow the hydrotherapy cycle for three to four circuits, using a combination of the hot and cold pools to receive the full benefits. Remember, hot, cold, rest, repeat.

    (additional charge)

If you wish to receive the full service experience at the Nordic spa, we can book a 60 minute wellness massage customized to sooth your aches and pains. In addition, we can upgrade your accommodations to include a Family Guestroom for additional space and amenities.
  • Day 2: Giddy-up

Good Morning! It’s your first day in the Canadian Rockies and today is going to be awesome. Be sure to put on comfortable clothes and make your way to the nearby stables for your introduction into horseback riding. You’ll visit an authentic ranch, meet the horses, learn some techniques and then saddle up to take a 3.5 hour horseback riding adventure through the backcountry. Your team will lead you along various trails, under the wide open skies and put you in a place where you can breathe in the majestic scenery.
This resort has various items to borrow, including: Bocce, Badminton, Basketballs, Baseball, Ball Hockey equipment, and more!

    (additional charge)

Want to ground yourself and reconnect with nature? Mountain Yoga Classes are available for all levels of students interested in strengthening their body and mind.
  • Day 3: Go Fore It!

Good morning! Enjoy your hot breakfast, stretch and get ready for a day on the greens! Head around the corner to the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, pick up your clubs and hop into your cart prior to your tee time. The Kananaskis Valley is a golfer’s paradise with courses tucked in amidst the mountain peaks, rolling plains, and glacier-fed creeks in the Canadian Rockies. Once you have finished your round, enjoyed a bevy in the clubhouse, take a scenic 40 minute drive to the town of Canmore and explore the local shops and eateries for the evening.
We bet you’re hungry! If you are looking for Canadian dishes or creative international fusion food and drinks, then visit Blake Restaurant, Brewhouse and Distillery. Their evolving menu has a variety of selections to satisfy you. We recommend the Aloo Tiki Pakora Sandwich.

    (additional charge)

If you want to take a spin out on the water, add on a canoe or kayak rental. Paddle, crisp glacier fed lakes and rivers depending on your time and interests, surrounded by the towering Canadian Rocky mountain peaks.
  • Day 4: The Sky's The Limit

Wake up, enjoy a hot breakfast, pack your bags, and check out of your hotel. On your last day, make your way to to a nearby helicopter outfitter who will brief you on the flight plan, and load you into the belly of the chopper. You will take a 40 minute flight towards Mt. Assiniboine, seeing Mt. Kidd and full views of the marvelous glaciers and lakes of Banff National Park. This birds eye view is surly the ideal way to top off your Kananaskis Mountain Escape.
Wherever you travel, stop along the way to enjoy the view.

    (additional charge)

Add the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary to the itinerary on your way back. You’ll be able to go inside their Engadine enclosure to the viewing platform with one of their guides and learn all about the Sanctuary and get an introduction to what wolfdogs are all about through their 30-minute presentation. This is a great way to photograph one of their packs of wolfdogs as well as having full access to your very own wolfdog expert.
